What are the side effects of drinking aloe vera juice?


Want some crucial information about the side effects of aloe vera. Is it true that drinking aloe vera juice have some side effects? If so, please explain?

Aloe vera is an herbal plant and has been extensively used in treating variety of health ailments and there are no known aloe vera juice side effects. Aloe vera is widely known for its healing and medicinal properties and found to be an effective remedy for curing wounds, burns, scars and cuts. This miraculous plant has been used in varieties of forms like gel, juice, creams, and lotions. Aloe vera juice is extracted from the leaves of aloe plant. The juice however tastes bitter therefore, it is mixed with some other juices to enhance its taste.

Aloe vera juice is well-known for its ability to eliminate digestive problems, constipation, heartburn, Crohn’s disease, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and type-II diabetes. Aloe vera juice contains minerals, vitamins, aminoacids and enzymes that function to strengthen the immune system and aids in regulation of sugar and blood pressure.

Aloe vera juice is beneficial for health in number of ways and there are usually rare or minor aloe vera juice side effects. But still side effects need to be highlighted especially for the person who are undergoing through medical conditions like Crohn’s disease, ulcers, colitis or other intestinal problems.

One most common side effects of aloe vera juice is abdominal pain. Since aloe plant contains laxative compounds, it can cause dehydration, electrolyte imbalance and diarrhea. Unprocessed laxative aloin in aloe vera juice leads to abdominal cramps. Beside that anthraquinones present in aloe vera juice result into severe diarrhea and kidney damage.

Consuming aloe vera juice during pregnancy or breast feeding is not recommended because of its irritating and purgative properties. Presence of anthraquinones in the aloe vera can result into diarrhea. Beside that aloe vera juice can leads to miscarriage or complications during pregnancy. Drinking too much aloe vera can result into vomiting and allergic reactions like skin rashes and itching.

However, you should know that most of the aloe vera juice side effects are due to the over dose or improper use of aloe vera. If you are suffering from any of the above symptoms, then immediately stop taking aloe vera juice and seek medical help.
